Work To Create The Driveway Moments to End Your Podcast

Driveway moments are pretty familiar to avid podcast listeners. It’s that moment at the end of a show when you just CANNOT go inside your home because you have to hear the ending. Or when you bike an extra mile or two to hear the close on your favorite show.  There are so many ways to arrive at driveway moments as a host, but here are a few of our favorites.

Ask the second question. Often, rhetoric of a guest can be incredibly helpful to keep a flow moving slowly, but we also need something a bit less predictable. Pick up on a phrase or a nuance from a guest and run with it; get a question out that digs into the essence of the discussion.

Follow your interest. Listeners are going to be captivated if you are captivated. When someone is talking about something they’re passionate about, it can be contagious to people listening even if they have no horse in the race. Follow your interest and allow listeners to latch on to your passion.

Find the side door. When you let a speaker hit their rhetorical comfortability, it can begin to feel too predictable. Sometimes, trying to capture the audience requires knocking someone off that rhetoric. Playing a safe, fun devil’s advocate in a conversation can help bring out rawer emotions and takes from the person you’re interacting with.

When you’re setting the tone for your next episode, make sure to think about driveway moments you can create to captivate the listener. The truth is, we all love driveway moments when we’re in one. At Blue Sky Podcasting, we strive to help make compelling shows. If you’re looking for someone to partner with you to enthrall your audience, contact us today.
