Why Do We Need Transcripts?

Casey Combest: We all want to grow our podcast shows. If the answer was no, you probably would be clicking off this video right now, but if the answer's yes, I'm gonna tell you one of our favorite tools for growing a podcast, and I promise it's probably a little different than you think. On today's episode, we're gonna be speaking about the power of transcripts.

So wake up, don't fall asleep. I know I just said transcripts, so some of you guys fell asleep a little bit, but there's so much power in this great tool to support your podcast. Let's talk through some of our favorite reasons to do a transcript. First, people actually read transcripts. I know it sounds sort of odd and I've done it myself, where sometimes I just don't feel like listening to a show, so I'll.

Because that's just a little more enjoyable depending on what kind of mood I'm in. Also, there are 11.5 million Americans with hearing impairment. That's a huge subset who otherwise can't hear your show or pay attention to it. So offering them a transcript is a great and wonderful way to reach them.

Secondly, and if you're a business, you might wanna do it because of ADA compliance. That's Americans With Disability Act. Being able to have a transcript of your show is a great way to make sure you're above. Third and lastly is transcripts are an s e o powerhouse. Keywords are littered through every conversation.

If you have a podcast on golf, I can guarantee in a 20, 30 minute episode you've said golf clubs, swing course, et cetera, so many times. So having those keywords. That you post on your website to support the show is a wonderful way to get a huge bump. As a case study, we had a podcast we were working on, we began doing transcripts, and the SEO tracker that this company used said that it bumped the website up 15000% in search engine optimization.

So again, transcripts might not be your first thought when you think about growing your show, but it's a wonderful tool to support what you're doing. Thanks so much for watching this episode. Have a great day everyone.
